Magical ✨.
Oreo iced coffee is a pretty popular drink out there.
It’s one of those creative coffee drinks that just work thanks to how well the flavors of coffee and Oreos go together.
You’ll find it in quite a few places. The Dunkin Donuts Oreo iced coffee is pretty popular. There is an Oreo Starbucks drink too. The Starbucks version is pretty loved. The International Delight Oreo iced coffee is super adored as well.
I’m sure there are so many more places serving their own version of this drink out there because it’s just that good.
Which brings me to how we came up with this recipe!
It’s food memories time because that’s what The Buttery Fairytale is all about, food memories!
You can share your stories with this recipe in the comments at the bottom of this post too whether this is the first time you’re trying this recipe or if you’ve already had it multiple times before, I would love to hear all about it!
Zee and I were working till late a while ago and we were getting super drowsy.
We are not big coffee people but those tired feelings were hitting hard so we thought of making some coffee to wake us up. Zee came up to me super excited and said we had Oreos at home and he really wanted to add Oreos to the coffee.
I was like omg let’s do it! We tried Oreo coffee at a few coffee shops before and loved it. Making some at home never hit us but made so much sense.
That’s because we could control how much of everything we wanted- coffee, milk, heavy cream, Oreos… We both love Oreo crumbs in our coffee so we could add as much as we wanted ❤.
The coffee was delicious of course and over time, we worked even more on it, adding a few ingredients here, removing a few there and here we have it, our favorite version of Oreo iced coffee 💃🏻.
We hope you love it and adore it as much as we do. It just brightens up our day. This drink really is something special.
INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS FOR OREO ICED COFFEE RECIPE
For exact ingredient measurements, please scroll down to the Recipe Card.
- Oreos- These chocolate cream sandwich cookies are the main guys here. We use the whole cookie. The cream adds to the sweetness and creaminess and the chocolate cookie is crushed to give our drink the most amazing texture (bits and pieces of Oreos with every sip 😍) and chocolatey flavor. Yum!
- Milk- Whole milk is best. The fattier the milk, the better! You can use whatever milk you prefer though such as skim milk, oat milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, oat milk or a lactose-free milk that you prefer.
- Heavy cream- I love adding just a little heavy cream to this Oreo iced coffee drink. It adds to the texture and makes the drink so much creamier. I love it! You can substitute with canned coconut cream here if you like.
- Coffee- Go ahead and make your coffee however you like it. You can brew some fresh coffee or maybe use cold brew coffee, instant coffee or even decaf coffee. Use your favorite coffee, this drink will always taste delicious! That rich flavor of coffee with the chocolateness of Oreos… yum ❤.
- Sugar- I prefer adding some sugar for a little extra sweetness. You can use whatever sweetener you prefer such as brown sugar, honey or any sugar-free or low-sugar substitute you prefer. You can skip out on using a sweetener here as well if you like. Just give the drink a taste and see what you prefer (adding a sweetener later on may make it difficult to mix though!).
- Ice- It’s Oreo iced coffee after all 😉🧊!

RECIPE & DIET VARIATIONS YOU CAN TRY
A recipe like this is so much fun because there’s lots of stuff you can do to play around with its flavors and it will always turn out incredible.
Here are a few ideas!
- You don’t need to stick to just regular milk. Go ahead and use whatever milk you prefer such as skim milk, oat milk, almond milk, cashew milk, coconut milk or a lactose-free milk you like. This Oreo homemade iced coffee recipe will always taste amazing!
- Use chocolate milk for another layer of chocolate in your drink! You can use whatever flavor milk you prefer as well.
- You can also use whatever coffee you love and prefer. Go ahead and make this creamy coffee drink with freshly brewed coffee, instant coffee, cold brew coffee… Whatever you like! You can use decaf coffee too if you don’t want caffeine. Coffee connoisseurs, you know how you like your coffee. Go ahead and add a shot of espresso (or two!) if you want, use espresso pods if you have a Nespresso machine or use dark roast beans or lighter roast beans, whatever you feel will work best here.
- Don’t want to have coffee right now? Or want to make a kid-friendly version of this drink? Go ahead and use cocoa powder or hot chocolate powder instead of coffee here. You can also pair it up with this Dalgona Chocolate Recipe (So Easy with No Coffee & Eggs!) instead of whipped cream for even more chocolate fun! It’ll be more like a cold hot chocolate or a chocolate milkshake. Delish 😍!
- You can also add another sweetener you prefer to this drink. There are so many options out there such as some more Oreo creams, brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, cane sugar, condensed milk, a sugar syrup you prefer, zero-calorie sweeteners… etc.
- I love getting small chunks of Oreo cookies while sipping on my iced coffee. It’s the most wonderful thing ever BUT if you want a smoother drink, you can go ahead and strain your milk after waiting a couple of minutes in Step 5 before pouring it into the coffee. Also, don’t add the Oreo cookie crumbs to the glass in the beginning of Step 5.
- How thick you prefer your iced coffee to be is a personal preference. If you want your Oreo classic cold coffee to be on the thinner side, go ahead and skip out on the heavy cream and use only milk. I prefer something right in the middle so I’ve added a little heavy cream. If you want your Oreo iced coffee to be even thicker with a creamy texture, go ahead and use more heavy cream.
- If you prefer a stronger drink, add more coffee and/or less milk and heavy cream next time. If you prefer a creamier drink with less coffee, go ahead and add less coffee/weak coffee and/or more milk and heavy cream.
- Got a sweet tooth? I find the amount of sugar perfect in this drink but if you want a sweeter drink, you can add more Oreo creams and/or sugar to your drink. To cut down on the sweetness, reduce and/or omit the sugar.
- For some extra fun, go ahead and froth your milk and heavy cream mix. It’ll make everything airy and creamy and will give you a delicious frothy layer on top of your drink and a super creamy texture.
- This is a fun drink and you can make it even more fun by adding some whipped cream at the bottom your glass right in the beginning before pouring in everything (I’ve seen this being done in the Starbucks version). This will give you delicious dollops of whipped cream with every sip. It’s indulgent yes but pretty fun for a special day when you want to pamper yourself.
- You can also and add all the ingredients into a blender using the ice crush function and make a frappe! This will give you a thick creamy cookies and cream coffee drink.
- You can also pour in some chocolate sauce, chocolate syrup or caramel syrup into your drink. If you’re using a transparent glass, go ahead and pour chocolate syrup down the sides of your glass for that classic effect. It’ll be a delish mocha. You can play around with ingredients and see what you like. Go ahead and add some French vanilla extract for an added rich creaminess or maybe even some spices such as ground cinnamon or clove for an aromatic touch of flavor! Maybe even pumpkin puree?
- A new way to try this drink on a hot day is to top your Oreo iced coffee with some ice cream! This will add to the flavor and texture of your drink. It’s such a fun way to serve your drink too! You can use whatever flavor you know and love such as chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, coffee ice cream, Oreo ice cream… Yum!
- It’s snowing outside and you want to warm up? Or are you just craving a warm cozy drink? You’re in luck because you can make some hot Oreo coffee too (one of my favorite things to do when it’s cold outside 🤩)! Just use hot milk and hot coffee, follow the recipe as it is and you’re good to go.
- We love the authentic Oreo flavor but you can also go ahead and make creative coffee drinks by experimenting with different Oreo flavors (peanut butter Oreos for a peanut butter coffee perhaps ❤). There are so many to try and who knows maybe you’ll find a rich flavor you absolutely adore in your coffee.
Note- If you think you have an ingredient that you feel is suitable as a substitute for a certain ingredient in this recipe, according to your dietary preference, you can use it and let us know how it works as a substitute in the comments below. I’ll then add it in as an adaptation suggestion here. This will help so many others with the same diet preference as yours.
HOW TO MAKE THIS OREO ICED COFFEE RECIPE [Step-by-Step Instructions with Photos]
For exact ingredient measurements and instructions without photos, please scroll down to the Recipe Card.
Please keep in mind that I go into lots of detail in all my recipes so you get to know all the super important tips and tricks when it comes to making a particular recipe. I always want you to make the BEST of whatever you’re cooking ❤.
STEP 1: GET YOUR OREOS READY
Take your Oreos and separate the white cream filling from the chocolate cookies. A knife makes things easier here!
We’ll be using the Oreo creams as well as the Oreo cookies at different times here.
STEP 2: MELT THE OREO CREAM FILLING
Take a mug and pour your milk and heavy cream into it.
Gently stir.
We now have to heat our milk and heavy cream mixture just a little until it’s lukewarm. *It should not boil*. All this can be done in the microwave as well as over the stovetop.
I’m using my microwave here.
So yep, heat the milk mixture in the microwave for 40 seconds to a minute. The milk and heavy cream mixture should be warm (lukewarm) but should not come to a boil.
Add all the Oreo creams to the warm milk and heavy cream mix.
Stir well (you can use a whisk too to make things easier).
Keep stirring and checking if the cream is mixing well.
If the Oreo cream isn’t mixing well in the milk and is clumping up, go ahead and heat the milk just a little more and mix again until the cream has dissolved into the milk.
There will still be small bits and pieces of cream and that’s okay. It’ll taste like delicious pockets of cream with every sip of our drink 😍!
Keep the creamy milk on the side and move to the next step.
STEP 3: GET THE COFFEE READY
Make your coffee and pour it into a separate mug (not the mug with the milk mixture in it).
Add the sugar to the coffee.
Mix the sugar coffee mixture super well.
Set aside.
STEP 4: CRUSH THE OREO COOKIES
While we leave our milk mixture and coffee to get cooler, let’s go ahead and crush our Oreo cookies.
Depending on the method you use and your preference, you can crush these classic cookies into fine crumbs or into chunky-ish crumbs.
I prefer them to be small and chunky, something right in the middle. I love those chunky Oreo crumbs with each sip (down to the littlest crumb, YUM!).
So yep…
There are quite a few ways you can crush these chocolate cookies. A few of them are:
- Place the cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
- Place them on a parchment paper, fold the parchment paper to cover the cookies on top and crush them with a rolling pin.
- Blend the cookies in a blender or food processor. You can make the crumbs super fine or nice and chunky.
STEP 5: MAKE YOUR OREO ICED COFFEE!
Take the glass you want to have this drink in.
Add in about half the crushed Oreo cookie crumbs.
Then go ahead and remove your ice cubes from the ice cube mold, add the ice cubes until they reach half the glass.
Slowly pour in the sweet coffee.
Take your mug of milk and heavy cream mixture and add the rest of the cookie crumbs to it.
We add our cookie crumbs at this stage and not before so they don’t become too soggy.
Stir just a little.
And now, slowly pour the cookies and cream milk into the coffee.
Pop your straw in, give a gentle stir and taste. How incredible is that 💖?
You can top your Oreo iced coffee with whipped cream and even more Oreo cookie crumbs if you want!
Hey you, I really hope you love this Oreo Iced Coffee Recipe as much as I do!
If you do, I would appreciate a star rating SO much (you can rate this recipe right below or from the Recipe Card 💖).

TIPS TO MAKE THE BEST OREO ICED COFFEE RECIPE EVERY SINGLE TIME
You know how easy this Oreo coffee recipe is by now if you’ve gone through the instructions above.
But here are some best tips to make things even easier:
- Using a knife to separate the Oreo cream fillings from the Oreo cookies makes things a bajillion times easier!
- Heat the milk and heavy cream mixture until it’s lukewarm. Don’t let it come to a boil. Also, if you feel your Oreo cream fillings aren’t melting in the milk and heavy cream mixture, go ahead and heat it just a little more, once again, without letting it come to a boil. Your Oreo creams will mix in better.
- Wait a little before pouring your coffee and milk into the glass if they are still too hot. That’s because that’ll lead to the ice melting super fast, leaving you with a drink that’s not cold enough (which really sucks on a hot summer day 😱).
- This easy Oreo iced coffee recipe has some incredibly delish cookie chunks in it, just how I like it. Try and use a slightly bigger straw if you love having cookie chunks in your coffee drink as well. It makes things so much easier! Don’t worry, regular straws work fine but a slightly bigger straw just makes sipping on the drink easier.
- I love getting small chunks of Oreo cookies while sipping on my iced Oreo coffee. It’s the best thing ever BUT if you want a smoother drink, you can go ahead and strain your milk after waiting a couple of minutes in Step 5 before pouring it into the coffee. Also, don’t add the Oreo cookie crumbs to the glass in the beginning of Step 5.
- You can also crush your Oreo cookies really well to make them super fine if you don’t prefer chunky cookie crumbs in your coffee. If you do prefer chunky Oreo cookie crumbs like me, just lightly crush your Oreos until there chunky crumbs.
- We add our Oreo cookie crumbs in the last step right before pouring the milk into the coffee for a reason. This is so the Oreo crumbs don’t become soggy very fast which is bound to happen if you keep it in the milk for a couple of minutes. Adding the crumbs right before pouring in the milk keeps that crunchiness of the Oreo crumbs for longer.
- Go ahead and use whole milk and heavy cream for the creamiest Oreo coffee drink ever.
- Hate when the ice in your iced coffee drink melts and makes the drink all watery? A good thing to do would be to make coffee ice cubes. Just pour your coffee into an ice tray, freeze it and use those coffee cubes instead of ice. Those ice cubes will fill your drink up with the most delish coffee-ness as they melt 😍.
- The proportions I’ve used in this recipe are perfect for me but you may prefer a stronger coffee flavor? Or maybe a milkier or creamier drink…? Perhaps a sweeter touch? Or maybe more Oreos (I don’t blame you 😉). Go ahead and make this recipe yours. You can add as much coffee, whole real milk, heavy cream, Oreos and/or sweetener as you like, depending on how YOU prefer your drink to be.
FUN SERVING SUGGESTIONS FOR OREO ICED COFFEE RECIPE
This Oreo cold coffee recipe is so good, it really doesn’t need anything extra but if you’re looking for new ways or ideas to serve it, here are a few ❤!
- Serve it in a gorgeous tall transparent glass if you want. This is so you can see this delicious drink while you sip on it with all those yummy crumbs from real Oreos.
- Go ahead and top your Oreo iced coffee drink with some airy whipped cream. You can also top it up with a thick creamy chocolate cloud, check out our Dalgona Chocolate Recipe (So Easy with No Coffee & Eggs!) to make it. It’ll add to the rich creaminess and is just so good with this cookies and cream iced coffee recipe, I have no words.
- Or you can also add some whipped cream at the bottom of your glass right in the beginning before pouring in everything (I’ve seen this being done in the Starbucks version). This will give you delicious dollops of whipped cream along with crumbs from real Oreos with every sip. It’s indulgent yes but super fun for a special day when you want to pamper yourself.
- You can also pour in some chocolate sauce, chocolate syrup or caramel syrup! If you’re using a transparent glass, go ahead and pour chocolate syrup down the sides of your glass for that classic gorgeous dripped chocolate effect.
- Go ahead and top your Oreo iced coffee with some ice cream! This will add to the flavor and texture of your drink making it thicker and creamier. It’s such a fun way to serve your drink too! You can use whatever flavor you know and love such as chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, coffee ice cream… Incredible ❤!
- Oh and for some extra fun, froth your milk and heavy cream mix. It’ll make everything airy and creamy and will give you a delicious frothy layer on top of your drink.
- Go ahead and add some more crushed Oreos on top of your drink. It gives the prettiest effect on top of whipped cream, ice cream or frothed milk. Tastes wonderful too (that authentic Oreo flavor ❤)!
- Or go ahead and top it up with everything! Pour some chocolate syrup down the sides of your glass, top your Oreo iced coffee with some ice cream and whipped cream. Then crush some Oreos and sprinkle them on top. Drizzle some more chocolate syrup and enjoy 😍. it makes for such a special treat!

How incredible is that ❤?You can top your Oreo iced coffee with whipped cream and even more Oreo cookie crumbs if you want ⭐.Enjoy that authentic Oreo flavor from real Oreos in your creamy iced coffee!
Notes ✍🏼
- Wait a bit before pouring your coffee and milk into the glass if they are still too hot/warm. Warm liquids will lead to the ice melting real fast, leaving you with a drink that’s not cold enough (which really sucks on a hot summer day).
- This easy Oreo cold coffee recipe has some delicious cookie chunks in it, not too big not too small, just how I like it. Try and use a slightly bigger straw if you love having cookie chunks in your coffee drink too! Don’t worry, regular straws work fine but a slightly bigger straw makes sipping on the drink easier ❤.
- I love getting small chunks of Oreo cookies while sipping on my iced coffee. It’s the most wonderful thing ever BUT if you want a smoother drink, strain your milk after waiting a couple of minutes in Step 5 before pouring it into the coffee. Also, don’t add the Oreo cookie crumbs to the glass in the beginning of Step 5.

- Use whole milk and heavy cream for the creamiest Oreo coffee drink ever.
- Hate when the ice in your iced coffee drink melts, making the drink all watery? Go ahead and make coffee ice cubes. Just pour your coffee into an ice tray, freeze it and use those coffee cubes instead of ice. Those ice cubes will fill your drink up with the most amazing coffee-ness as they melt 😍.
- The proportions I’ve used in this recipe are perfect for me but you may prefer something different! Go ahead and make this recipe yours. Add as much coffee, whole real milk, heavy cream, Oreos and/or sweetener as you like, depending on how YOU prefer your drink to be.
- You don’t have to stick to just regular milk. Use whatever milk you prefer such as skim milk, oat milk, almond milk, cashew milk, coconut milk or a lactose-free milk you prefer.
- You can also use whatever coffee you love and prefer. Go ahead and make this creamy coffee drink with your favorite coffee. It can be freshly brewed coffee, instant coffee, cold brew coffee… Whatever you love! You can use decaf coffee too if you don’t want the caffeine. Coffee connoisseurs, you know how you like your coffee. Go ahead and add a shot of espresso (or two!) if you want, use espresso pods if you have a Nespresso machine or use dark roast beans or lighter roast beans, whatever you feel will work best here.
- Don’t want to use coffee right now? Or want to make a kid-friendly version? Use cocoa powder or hot chocolate powder instead!
- You can also use another sweetener you prefer. There are loads of options out there such as some more Oreo creams, brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, cane sugar, condensed milk, a sugar syrup you prefer, zero-calorie sweeteners… etc.
- How thick you want your iced coffee to be is a personal preference. If you want your Oreo iced coffee to be on the thinner side, skip out on the heavy cream and use only milk. If you want your Oreo iced coffee to be thicker, go ahead and use more heavy cream. You can froth up your milk and coffee too. I prefer something right in the middle so I’ve added just a little heavy cream.
- Prefer a stronger drink? Add more coffee and/or less milk and heavy cream. Prefer a creamier drink with less coffee? Add less coffee/weak coffee and/or more milk and heavy cream.
- Got a sweet tooth? I prefer the amount of sugar in this drink but if you want a sweeter drink, you can add more Oreo creams and/or sugar to your drink. To reduce the sweetness, use a little sugar or omit it completely.
- For some fun and extra creaminess, go ahead and froth your milk and heavy cream mix. It’ll make everything airy, creamy and will give you a thick frothy layer on top of your drink. Yum! 🤩
- You can make this drink even more fun by adding some whipped cream at the bottom your glass right in the beginning before pouring everything in. This will give you creamy dollops of whipped cream with every sip.
- You can also and add all the ingredients into a blender using the ice crush function and make a frappe! This will give you a thick creamy cookies and cream coffee drink.
- You can pour in some chocolate sauce, chocolate syrup or caramel syrup into your drink too. If you’re using a transparent glass, go ahead and pour chocolate syrup down the sides of your glass for that classic dripping chocolate effect. It’ll be a delish mocha.
- For some more chocolate-ness, use chocolate milk! You can also use whatever flavor of milk you prefer.
- Play around with ingredients and see what you like. Go ahead and add some French vanilla extract for an added rich creaminess or maybe even some spices such as ground cinnamon or clove for an aromatic touch of flavor and warm spice! Maybe even pumpkin puree?
- Top your Oreo iced coffee with some ice cream for some added delish flavor and texture! Use whatever flavor you want such as chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, cookies and cream ice cream… Yum!
- Craving a warm cozy drink? You can make some hot Oreo coffee too! Just use hot milk and hot coffee, follow the rest of the recipe as it is and you’re good to go.
- Oh and you can also experiment with different Oreo flavors (peanut butter Oreos for a peanut butter coffee maybe 😍). There are so many to try and hey, maybe you’ll find a flavor you absolutely adore in your coffee.

Your recipe hands down turned out to be much better than any Starbucks or Dunkin version, I’m catching myself regularly making this at home.
That’s a massive compliment :). Thank you so so much for your kind words, Violet. It means the world.
Haven’t visited my favorite coffee shop since I tried this recipe. I think that’s all I need to say. Thanks.
Wow, that’s a huge compliment! Thank you so much, Mark :).
Quick tip, I separated my Oreo cream fillings straight into the mug which needed the milk mixture and then heated all of it directly in the microwave. Thank me later! 😉
Thanks for the awesome tip, Tom!
Never was big on Oreos but this recipe has changed my mind! Loved it, thanks for the recipe.
Yay I’m so happy to hear that, Jamie. Thank you for the comment, I’m so glad you enjoyed!
