WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS RECIPE
This maple syrup coffee recipe is so good, I have no words at all.
I mean, the second I took a sip, I gasped in excitement! That’s the kind of effect this drink had on me? It’s crazy!
Smooth and rich with the most amazing touch of maple-y sweet flavor.
I’m in love.
I never could’ve imagined maple syrup would go so well with coffee. I think it tops every other sweetener for me now. It’s literally one of the best natural sweeteners on my list at this moment.
And nope, I’m not just saying that. I actually mean it.
There’s just something about the floral caramelly notes of pure maple syrup that work so well with the rich earthiness of coffee.
Add to that some fatty frothy milk and just a little heavy cream…
And oh boy, what do I even say?
This incredibly delicious slightly sweet coffee with maple syrup and milk has won over my heart. And it wants to win over yours too now 😉!
This real maple syrup coffee drink is not just absolutely irresistible, it has many other things going for it too. Here are a few:
- It uses ONLY 5 INGREDIENTS out of which, are you ready for this…? 2 ingredients are optional, woohoo 💃🏻! It also uses pure maple syrup which in my opinion is one of the best natural sweeteners ever! It’s also known to be a bit better than regular sugar because it contains antioxidants and minerals (of course moderation is key here!). Because of this, it’s usually used instead of regular sugar in healthy recipes.
- It’s ready in less than 5 minutes. You’ll have the most delicious cup of coffee ready super quick the second those coffee cravings hit!
- This is such a simple coffee recipe. You don’t need any artificial syrups or extra ingredients (like some modern coffee shops use) to get the most delicious coffee ever. Better yet, you know what’s going into your coffee and you have control over it too. Skip the trip to the coffee shop and enjoy this delicately sweet coffee with real maple syrup, it’s so good.
- Can it get better than a cozy drink once fall sets in and the wind has a chill to it? This drink is the absolute best to settle down with, it’s such a great way to warm yourself up. Oh and don’t worry, you can turn this into an iced coffee drink too on those hot days (SO good during hot weather!).
- It’s pretty inexpensive to make too! You don’t need any special stuff to make this simple recipe and you don’t need to be a barista to make it either ❤. You just need a few ingredients and less than five minutes to get a delicious lush creamy coffee in your hands. Yum!

WHAT IS THIS MAPLE SYRUP COFFEE RECIPE?
This delicious maple syrup coffee is a super simple recipe.
It’s some rich coffee mixed with caramelly pure maple syrup and creamy milk.
When you mix coffee and maple syrup together, you get some absolutely gorgeous flavors.
Maple syrup is called liquid gold for a reason. It adds the most incredible hint of flavor to our coffee ❤.
Maple syrup has a very light almost vanilla caramelly flavor that works so well with coffee, it’s amazing. It doesn’t overpower the coffee nor is it completely taken over by coffee’s strong flavors.
It works alongside coffee. Those flavors of coffee and maple syrup work really well together giving us a smooth rich drink with sweet buttery caramel notes of flavor and strong earthy coffee.
Add some frothy whole milk (frothed using a milk frother, I’ve given other ways in the instructions too!) and a little heavy cream with a pinch of cinnamon to the mix and you get a drink that’s absolutely irresistible.
It’s one of the best ways to have coffee in my opinion ❤. That’s just how much I love it.
This is the best maple syrup coffee recipe ever!
Maple syrup is a pretty interesting ingredient. It’s made from the sap of the maple tree.
The sap of the maple tree! How incredible is that?
Keep in mind though that this sap is not maple syrup. The sap goes through a process where it’s cooked and boiled for many hours until it’s super concentrated.
And that is maple syrup.
When I ask you to use maple syrup here, this is what I mean. Real maple syrup.
Please don’t use pancake syrup here. It’s not real maple syrup. Instead, it’s made with corn syrup and artificial maple flavoring.
No maple flavored artificial syrups. It just won’t do justice!
You just won’t get that delicate but rich taste of pure maple syrup and that’s not fair to this gorgeous coffee.
Please use only real maple syrup here to get the most delicious cup of coffee every single time.
Oh and coming to the type of maple syrup, I usually use Grade A Amber maple syrup here. This is the type of maple syrup I prefer in my coffee.
You can share your stories with this recipe in the comments below too whether this is the first time you’re trying this recipe or if you’ve already had it multiple times before, I would love to hear all about it!
INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS FOR THIS MAPLE SYRUP COFFEE RECIPE
For exact ingredient measurements, please scroll down to the Recipe Card.
- Coffee- Go ahead and use whatever coffee you know and love ❤. You can brew some fresh coffee however you like it or use instant coffee or instant espresso too. You can use cold brew coffee or coffee concentrate as well. If you have an espresso machine, you can use 1-2 shots of espresso to make a homemade latte. You can also use decaf coffee if you prefer. I’ve heard dark roast goes well here. I’ve personally not tried dark roast here but you can give it a go if you want! Use whatever coffee you prefer the taste of, literally everything works here!
- Cinnamon powder (optional)- That slight spice and woody flavor from some ground cinnamon gives the perfect warmth to our coffee with maple syrup. Plus, cinnamon works really well with the rich flavors of coffee and the caramel toffee flavors of maple syrup. So.good.
- Real maple syrup- Use real maple syrup here. Please don’t use pancake syrup. It’s not real pure maple syrup and is instead made using corn syrup and artificial maple flavoring. Please don’t use any maple flavored artificial syrups. Just good old pure maple syrup works best here to get all those lush smooth toffee flavors in our cup of coffee.
- Heavy cream (optional)- I add just a little heavy cream to turn this into a rich creamy fancy coffee. Extra creaminess? ALWAYS!
- Milk- I’ve used good old whole milk here. I love frothing the milk and I find whole milk froths up so well and is so creamy ❤… You can use any milk of choice though. You can use skim milk or even non-dairy milk such as oat milk, almond milk, cashew milk, soy milk… whatever you prefer.

RECIPE & DIET VARIATIONS YOU CAN TRY
This maple coffee recipe is so good, I can’t! And there is just so much you can do with it too.
- Use any coffee you prefer. You can brew your coffee however you like. You can also use instant coffee or instant espresso. You can use regular coffee, cold brew coffee or coffee concentrate as well. If you have an espresso machine, you can use shots of espresso and turn this into a maple latte recipe. You can also use decaf coffee if you want to skip out on the caffeine. The options are endless.
- Use equal parts milk and heavy cream for an even creamier richer drink. You can use half and half too.
- You also don’t have to just stick to regular milk. Go ahead and use your milk of choice. You can use skim milk or even plant-based milk such as coconut milk, soy milk, cashew milk, almond milk or oat milk (a great option for me because I adore oat milk, check out my Oat Milk Coffee Recipe!).
- This maple syrup cinnamon coffee recipe is perfect for me but we all have our own preferences and I totally get that. Go ahead and make this recipe yours ❤. If you prefer more coffee and less milk, do that! If you prefer a sweeter coffee, add more maple syrup. A milkier coffee? Add more milk and/or heavy cream. You can work with this recipe to suit your likes!
- You can also add in a drop or two of vanilla extract to turn this into a vanilla maple syrup coffee. Or maybe add a little cocoa powder to turn it into a maple syrup mocha! Or even make a dirty chai maple latte by adding some tea to the mix! Lots of things you can do and play around with.
- The level of sweetness in this maple coffee recipe is perfect for me but if you want more, you can always add more maple syrup. If you want your maple syrup coffee to be less sweet, reduce the amount of maple syrup!
- If it’s cold outside and you want to warm yourself up, go ahead and make some maple-y hot coffee!
- And if it’s really hot weather outside and you want to cool down, go ahead and make an iced coffee drink using this maple syrup coffee recipe. This drink tastes wonderful both hot and cold!
- We’ve added ground cinnamon here but there are so many more warm spices you can add such as ground cardamom, ground nutmeg, star anise, cloves, ginger, allspice…
- Add a pinch of sea salt for all those sweet toffee notes to really pop turning this into a salted maple syrup coffee recipe ✨.
- To turn this into a maple latte recipe and make some yummy homemade latte, go ahead and use espresso instead of regular coffee. You can make an iced maple latte or a hot maple latte, it’s up to what you want. Enjoy those espresso maple lattes!
Note- If you think you have an ingredient that you feel is suitable as a substitute for a certain ingredient in this recipe, according to your dietary preference, you can use it and let us know how it works as a substitute in the comments below. HOT MAPLE SYRUP COFFEE RECIPE ☕
STEP 1:
Take your favorite mug or coffee cup and pour the fresh hot coffee in.
STEP 2:
Now add in the ground cinnamon…
Then add the maple syrup and mix.
It’s amazing how easily maple syrup mixes in with the coffee.
And now, pour in the heavy cream.
Give it a good stir.
STEP 3:
Heat your whole milk in a different mug.
You can heat your milk in the microwave or over the stove in a small saucepan over medium heat (medium heat is important here, don’t let the milk get too hot!).
Heat the milk until it’s hot and steamy. It doesn’t need to come to a boil.
And now, froth the milk!
Don’t worry if you don’t have an espresso maker with a milk steamer attachment to steam your milk, we can froth our milk to make it nice, airy and creamy.
I’ve used an electric milk frother to froth the milk here.
You can also just go ahead and directly pour your hot milk into the coffee if you don’t want to froth it. It’ll still taste incredible ❤.
Here are a few ways you can froth the milk-
- Use an electric frother. Froth the milk with an electric frother until it becomes gorgeously airy and frothy. The milk may almost double in size as it froths! Go clockwise, anti-clockwise, raise it up just a little, tilt the frother and the glass of milk a bit… Play around with it until your milk is deliciously frothy.
- You can use a mason jar too. It’s a simple and great alternative. Pour your warm milk halfway into the mason jar, seal it and shake it vigorously for about a minute or so until the milk is all bubbly and frothed up!
- You can also heat your whole milk in a small saucepan over the stovetop over medium heat. Then, once it starts to heat up in the small saucepan, start whisking your hot milk with a whisk until it’s nice and foamy. Then switch the heat off.
- You can use a regular blender as well. Blend your warm milk until it’s nice and foamy. Don’t fill it up all the way though before blending.
- You can also use an immersion blender or hand blender to air up your milk.
- A French press can help with frothing your milk too!
Once you’re done frothing your milk, move to the next step.
STEP 4:
Now, take that frothy creamy hot milk and gently pour it into your coffee.
Pour some more… Top it with all that creamy fluffy froth (so good!).
Give it a gentle stir if you wish and enjoy all that toffee-like richness. So good ❤.
Once again, for exact ingredient measurements, please scroll down to the Recipe Card.
ICED MAPLE SYRUP COFFEE RECIPE 🧊
STEP 1:
Take a tall pretty glass and pour your coffee into it.
STEP 2:
Add the ground cinnamon.
Then pour in the maple syrup and mix well.
Add the heavy cream, gently mix.
STEP 3:
Time to froth that creamy milk (frothy milk 😍).
Good news though, you can directly pour the milk into the coffee without frothing it. So don’t worry. If you don’t want to froth your milk, jump to the next step!
Please use a separate mug to froth your milk. Don’t pour it into the coffee yet.
Don’t worry if you don’t have an espresso maker with a milk steamer attachment to steam your milk, we can go ahead and froth our milk to make it nice, airy and creamy.
Now, warm milk just froths better. You can heat your milk until it’s just a little warm (not too hot) before frothing it for better results! Or you can use cold milk as well but it may take time to froth.
Here are a few ways you can froth your milk-
- Use an electric milk frother until your fatty milk becomes all frothy and airy (it may almost double in size and reach the top of the glass).
- Or use a mason jar. Pour your creamy milk into a mason jar until it’s half-full, seal it and give it a good shake for about a minute or two. You can place ice cubes in the jar too, pour in the cold milk and give it a good shake with all that ice too 💃🏻 !
- You can use a blender too. Blend your warm milk until it gets nice and foamy.
- You can use an immersion blender as well to froth up your milk too.
- A French press can help give you frothy milk as well!
Once your milk is all frothy and creamy, move to the next step!
STEP 4:
Take your glass with the coffee in it and add in ice cubes until it’s 3/4th full or how many ever you usually prefer in your iced coffee or iced maple latte (don’t add more ice cubes if you already added them in while using the mason jar method to froth up your milk).
And now, pour that creamy frothy deliciousness in.
And pour… top it up with all that lush froth.
Give it a gentle stir and enjoy ❤. How deliciously caramelly and refreshing is that?

TIPS TO MAKE THE BEST MAPLE SYRUP COFFEE RECIPE
This has to be one of the best recipes ever. It’s just so great in every way.
It’s a really easy coffee recipe too, one of the easiest coffee recipes I know of.
Here are a few ways to always make the best version of this maple syrup coffee drink:
- Please try and have it immediately if you can. There’s nothing like fresh coffee ❤. Ooh and if you’re having an iced homemade latte, make sure you serve it immediately or else those ice cubes will start to melt, making your iced maple syrup latte watery.
- Always add maple syrup, cinnamon powder and heavy cream to the coffee itself. Don’t add it to the milk. The hot coffee helps everything dissolve better and develop its flavors. Plus, we don’t want anything extra in our milk so it froths up well on its own and is not weighed down by any other ingredients.
- Don’t worry if you don’t have an espresso machine with a milk steamer attachment. There are many ways you can froth up your milk. You can use an electric milk frother, the mason jar method, a small saucepan over the stove with a whisk method, a blender, an immersion blender or a French press!
- You can also go ahead and froth the entire milk like I’ve asked you to or you can keep a little bit on the side and froth that instead. Then pour the regular milk into the coffee and top it up with this frothed milk. However and how much ever you prefer to froth your drink, it’ll give you a sweet cloud-like drink ❤.
- Please don’t use pancake syrup when making this simple recipe. It’ll not help your coffee flavor in any way. It doesn’t have real maple syrup in it and instead contains corn syrup and other artificial sweeteners. I don’t suggest maple flavoring either (like many modern coffee shops using artificially flavored syrups). Go ahead and use the real deal here, that’s the perfect way! That coffee and milk taste just incredible with pure maple syrup. Don’t skip on it!
- You also don’t need to froth your milk here. Your cup of coffee will still taste delicious even with un-frothed milk, that’s just how good this recipe is.
- It makes me sad when the ice in my iced homemade latte melts, giving me a watery drink. A great way to fix this is by making some coffee ice cubes! Just pour your coffee into an ice tray and freeze it. Then use those coffee cubes instead of regular ice. Those coffee cubes keep that gorgeous rich taste!
- Or you can just make some stronger coffee so your ice cubes don’t make your coffee super watery!
- The proportions in this recipe are right for me and I prefer my coffee that way. BUT HEY, you can change this recipe however you want! Want a stronger coffee flavor? Use a stronger coffee. Want a milkier drink? Add more milk or heavy cream. Want a sweeter coffee drink? Add more maple syrup. Go ahead and make this recipe yours ❤.
FUN SERVING SUGGESTIONS
This is literally my favorite coffee right now. There’s not just one perfect way to serve it. It tastes so good every single way ❤!
Here are some fun ways to serve it!
- Use your favorite coffee cup if you’re cozying up at home or a pretty coffee cup if you’re in the mood to jazz things up a bit. You can also use a gorgeous tall glass to serve your iced coffee in so you can see all those swirls and whirls!
- My fav way to have this delicious coffee is with some frothy milk and extra ground cinnamon sprinkled on top. This drink is so delicious though, you don’t even need anything extra.
- You can top this quick and easy maple coffee recipe with this Dalgona Chocolate Recipe (like dalgona coffee but with chocolate!) for a delicious fluffy mocha twist! The creamy thick chocolate dalgona will make your maple syrup coffee taste out of this world with all those flavors of coffee and chocolate mixing together… SO good!
- When making this delicious coffee, you can froth the milk like I’ve asked you to or you can reserve a little milk on the side and froth only that instead. Then top your coffee with it once you’re done pouring the milk in. Oh and you can add a few drops of vanilla extract before frothing that milk too for some delicately delish vanilla milk foam. Yum!
- You can skip frothing your milk and top your maple latte recipe with whipped cream to add a sweet creaminess!
- You can top this maple syrup iced coffee recipe with some ice cream too! Use your favorite flavor of ice cream such as maybe chocolate, vanilla, caramel…You can also top your iced coffee with some milk foam, top it with some ice cream, and top it all up with some whipped cream. You can drizzle more maple syrup on top too for a deliciously fancy coffee!
- You can try your hand at some latte art too if you’re making some espresso maple lattes to make everything even prettier!
- Top your maple syrup coffee with a pinch of salt for an almost caramel salt touch, warm spices such as ground cardamom, ground cinnamon, star anise, cloves or just a little bit of cayenne (for a hint of spice) for a warm delicious treat. Some use ground nutmeg too. You can also sprinkle some cocoa powder or chocolate sprinkles on top. Maybe even grate a bit of your favorite chocolate over your coffee?
- You can serve this smooth rich coffee with your favorite cookies (especially if you have a sweet tooth 😍). I absolutely love chocolate chip cookies with my coffee (Check out our Copycat McDonald’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe)! One of the best ways to serve coffee in my opinion hehe!
- This maple syrup coffee recipe goes so well with this Easiest 3 Ingredient Chocolate Cake Recipe too (another great recipe if you’ve got a sweet tooth!)! That chocolate and coffee combination is the best. It also goes really well with this Super Easy & Moist Banana Bread Recipe ❤.
- And if you’re having this homemade maple syrup coffee for breakfast (or whenever really, midnight pancakes 😍), you can serve it with some pancakes, waffles, crepes, croissants (so buttery and GOOD, yum!)!!!
- And if you just love coffee and want more, go ahead and add some small cubes of coffee jello into your coffee (works best with iced maple syrup coffee). That extra burst of coffee is the best. Check out my Homemade Coffee Jello with Condensed Milk & Cream Recipe to make some coffee jello at home!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How does maple syrup taste in coffee?
Pure maple syrup tastes INCREDIBLE in coffee.
It’s got the most delicious caramel toffee-like notes with a hint of woodiness that goes just so well with the rich earthy flavor of coffee.
It’s amazing and I can’t believe I never tried it before.
The good news is that it has more health benefits than regular sugar and so, people usually use it in healthy recipes. It’s still a form of sugar though and should be consumed in moderation.
Maple syrup works along with coffee and doesn’t overpower it nor is it underpowered by it. You’ll feel that delicate carameliness with each sip and well, it’s just the most wonderful sweetener ever ❤. This is definitely one of my most favorite coffee recipes.
Can maple syrup be substituted for pancake syrup or honey in this maple syrup coffee recipe?
If you’re thinking of using pancake syrup or honey to get that caramelly flavor of maple syrup in your coffee, it won’t work.
You can always use honey to sweeten your coffee but it’ll be its own thing and won’t be like maple syrup coffee so it’s not really a great alternative flavor-wise. Honey will give your coffee a floral flavor which is pretty good. That floral-ness works pretty well with coffee flavor too.
Coming to pancake syrup, I don’t really prefer it. It’s filled with artificial sweeteners and flavors, there are no health benefits like there are from maple syrup or honey and there’s no special flavor either, it’s sort of like using regular sugar in my opinion.
There’s just something about maple syrup in coffee
What’s the best type of maple syrup to use in coffee?
The best type of maple syrup to use in coffee in my opinion which will work with coffee and not be too strong are Grade A golden or amber maple syrup.
You can use dark maple syrup as well for a stronger deeper taste.
How do I make this maple syrup coffee recipe vegan?
It’s super easy to make this maple syrup coffee vegan!
To make this maple syrup coffee recipe vegan, go ahead and use non-dairy or plant-based milk such as oat milk (I love oat milk so this is a great option for me!), cashew milk, almond milk, coconut milk or soy milk.
You can also skip out on the heavy cream or use a vegan heavy cream such as coconut cream, cashew cream or whatever you like!
Can you make a maple syrup whipped coffee?
You can try making whipped maple syrup coffee, I think it’ll work. You’ll need to use instant coffee to get that whipped dalgona coffee-like texture.
I think it’ll work by mixing equal parts maple syrup, instant coffee and hot water using an electric hand mixer. Go ahead and whip that mixture of maple syrup, instant coffee and hot water until you get a fluffy coffee cream.

- And if it’s really hot weather outside and you want to cool down, go ahead and make an iced coffee drink using this maple syrup coffee recipe. This drink tastes incredible both hot and cold!
- We’ve added ground cinnamon here but there are so many more warm spices you can add such as ground cardamom, star anise, cloves, ginger, allspice… Some add ground nutmeg too.
- Add a pinch of sea salt for all those sweet toffee notes to really pop ✨.
- To turn this into a maple latte recipe and make some homemade latte, use espresso instead of regular coffee. You can make an iced maple latte or a hot maple latte, it’s up to what you want. Enjoy those espresso maple lattes!
