It’s super rich with a creamy but firm texture (YUM). The texture is almost cheesecake-like.

A little tart thanks to the Greek yogurt (that yogurt flavor ❤) with a sweetness that’s just right thanks to the condensed milk.
I NEVER could’ve imagined those two flavors going so well together.
It’s the perfect little treat you can have in less than an hour (prepping+baking, everything!).

And of course, I just need to share it with you. I can’t keep this deliciousness all to myself now, can I?
So how did I come up with this delicious recipe? Personal story time because that’s a little what The Buttery Fairytale is about, personal food stories and our memories with them 💖…
You can share your stories with this recipe in the comments below too whether this is the first time you’re trying it or if you’ve already had it multiple times before, I would love to hear all about it!
So… I was craving cheesecake like crazy a couple of days ago and I wanted to bake my own.
As usual for me though, it was super late at night and I didn’t have most of the ingredients. I couldn’t get them either cause it was too late (ahaha I need to control these midnight cravings :O).
So I started Googling… How do I make cheesecake without *all the ingredients I didn’t have at that time*.
And the results were… interesting.
I came across loads of options but what caught my eye was a suggestion to use Greek yogurt.
I had an entire container of Greek yogurt sitting and staring at me and I just knew I had to try it.
I had a feeling it would work.
I made my own changes, added a few extra ingredients, removed a few and went with what I felt would do well in my non-cheesecake cheesecake and got this delicious little guy.
What a discovery. Using ONLY 3 ingredients too!
I haven’t stopped making it since.
I’m in love with it and I think I always will be, it’s just that good.
I hope you love this recipe as much as I do and it solves all those sweet midnight cravings you may get as well. So much love ❤.
INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS FOR 3 INGREDIENT YOGURT CAKE
For exact ingredient measurements, please scroll down to the Recipe Card.
This incredibly delicious creamy yogurt cake uses ONLY 3 ingredients 😍. It’s unbelievable but true!
- Greek Yogurt: Ah, deliciously tart Greek yogurt gives that perfect tangy flavor and rich creamy texture to our 3 ingredient yogurt cake. Oh my goodness, that tartness goes so well with the sweet condensed milk giving us a cake that tastes just right, yum! I’ve used plain Greek yogurt here. You can substitute it with any flavor of Greek yogurt you prefer. There are so many options out there! Maybe a vanilla yogurt for a delicate vanilla flavor (add in a little vanilla extract for more vanilla-ness!)? Or perhaps even a berry flavored Greek yogurt or a lemon flavored one? Yum! You can use regular plain yogurt too.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: Condensed milk adds to the richness of this easy yogurt cake. It also works well with Greek yogurt, making our yogurt cake sweet, creamy and moist. I haven’t tried any other substitutes here but you can maybe try using low/zero sugar condensed milk or low fat condensed milk if you want a lighter option. Once again, I haven’t tried it so if you try it out, let me know in the comments below how it comes out for you.
- All Purpose Flour: All purpose flour helps give our creamy yogurt cake a firmer and very slightly cakey texture. You can substitute with half the amount of corn starch instead of regular flour here. Perhaps even tapioca starch, potato starch, rice flour, arrowroot powder, almond flour, glute-free flour or whole wheat flour may work here… I haven’t tried these options myself but you can give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

RECIPE & DIET VARIATIONS YOU CAN TRY
This easy yogurt cake has loads of variations and I’m so excited to share them with you! It’s one of the most versatile yogurt cake recipes ever!
And isn’t that super awesome? How such a simple recipe can be experimented with in so many ways, giving a delicious treat every single time!
Let’s explore some variations below:
- I’ve used plain Greek yogurt here. You use any flavor of Greek yogurt you like such as maybe vanilla yogurt for a delicate vanilla yogurt cake? Or perhaps even a blueberry flavored Greek yogurt for a blueberry yogurt cake? Or maybe a lemon yogurt cake with lemon flavored yogurt, add in some lemon zest for an added tart punch? You can use regular plain yogurt as well if you like. You can also go ahead and try different yogurts to see what flavor and texture you prefer.
- When it comes to condensed milk, you can maybe try using zero/low sugar condensed milk or low fat condensed milk as a lighter option. I haven’t tried it out though so if you try it, please let me know in the comments below how it works out for you.
- Instead of all purpose flour, you can use half the amount of cornstarch. You can trying using tapioca starch, potato starch, rice flour, arrowroot powder, gluten-free flour, almond flour or whole wheat flour as well… I haven’t tried these options myself but you can give it a try and let me know how it works for you.
- For some added sweetness if you want more, you can add in some white sugar (make sure the sugar dissolves), maple syrup, honey or any sweetener or sugar substitute of your preference.
- I’ve baked this 3 ingredient yogurt cake with condensed milk in a 6.5 inch round cake pan but you can go ahead and bake it in a bigger or larger cake pan or springform pan. Remember though that your yogurt cake will be thinner if you use a bigger cake pan. For a thick rich cake, go ahead and use a smaller cake pan or springform pan. It’s all up to you.
- Oh and you can make this delicious 3 ingredient yogurt cake in a cupcake pan too so everyone gets their own personal yogurt cake. The baking time will reduce so make sure you bake it for a shorter time and keep a constant check so your mini yogurt cakes don’t overbake.
- I prefer having this creamy yogurt cake warm and fresh out of the oven but you can wait until it reaches room temperature, refrigerate it and then have it cold too. It tastes delicious every.single.way.
- You can maybe add half cream cheese half Greek or plain yogurt or sour cream to the cake mix when making your yogurt cake. This can be to play around with the flavor of your cake or to add a lighter ingredient along with the cream cheese. Or perhaps even half Greek yogurt half sour cream. It’ll be fun to experiment!
- Oh and to add an even more cheesecakiness to this 3 ingredient Greek yogurt cake, go ahead and make a crust as is done when making a cheesecake. You can use Graham crackers or whatever you prefer to make an absolutely delicious crust. Yum!
- There are loads of different flavors you can add to your creamy yogurt cake as well. You can add in some lemon zest or orange zest for a touch of tang (squeeze some lemon juice on top for an extra tart!). You can also add some vanilla extract for a delicate vanilla flavor.
- You can add in some almond extract or coffee extract too, depending on what flavor you want to go for. You can maybe add in some chia seeds as well?
- For a touch of chocolate, you can add some chocolate chips into the batter as well whether you’re baking our regular yogurt cake or a chocolate yogurt cake. There are so many ways you can add your favorite flavors to this cake!
- You can add some spices to your creamy cake mix as well for a touch of warmth ❤. Spices such as clove, cinnamon and/or cardamom work really well here.
- You can also add some fresh fruit into the cake batter before baking it! You can add in maybe some blackberries or raspberries… perhaps even some fruit jam you love? Yum, enjoy that perfect dessert!
- You can add some dried fruit such as raisins, walnuts, almonds or whatever you prefer into the yogurt mixture or on top of the cake after you finish baking it.
- You can also make some chocolate yogurt cake! Just add some cocoa powder into the batter before baking it. Drizzle some chocolate sauce over your chocolate yogurt cake and enjoy.
- For a healthy yogurt cake variation, go ahead and skip out on the condensed milk. Add in 3 large eggs instead. Remember that this won’t be sweet on its own unless you’re using a sweetened yogurt so if you want your yogurt cake to be sweet, go ahead and add in your preferred sweetener such as white sugar (make sure the sugar dissolves). You can also drizzle some honey, maple syrup or just serve your yogurt cake with some fruit for a touch of sweetness. Another interesting variation here is to make a fluffy cake. Just separate the egg whites from the egg yolks, beat them using a hand mixer until they form medium to stiff peaks and gently fold it all into the cake batter (Greek yogurt+egg yolks+corn starch or flour) and bake. You can add 1/4 cup sugar to make it sweet too!

HOW TO MAKE 3 INGREDIENT YOGURT CAKE [Step-by-Step Instructions with Photos]
For exact ingredient measurements and instructions without photos, please scroll down to the Recipe Card.
Please keep in mind that I go into lots of detail in all my recipes so you get to know all the super important tips and tricks when it comes to making a particular recipe. I always want you to make the BEST of whatever you’re cooking ❤.
STEP 1: MIX EVERYTHING TOGETHER
Preheat the oven to 177°C or 350°F.
Take a large bowl and add in your Greek yogurt.
Now add the sweetened condensed milk.
Sift the all purpose flour into the large bowl.
Now mix everything together so there are no clumps of flour left.
I’ve used a regular whisk to mix everything together here but you can use whatever you prefer.
STEP 2: BAKE IT!
Take your cake pan (a regular cake pan or springform pan) and line it with parchment paper.
I’ve used a 6.5 inch round cake pan here. The cake doesn’t rise much and that’s why I’m using a smaller pan so it looks thick and pretty once it’s done baking.
Pour your batter from the large bowl into the prepared tin/cake pan (a silicone spatula will be helpful here to scrape all that batter!).
And that’s it, pop it in the oven and let it bake at 177°C or 350°F for about 40 to 45 minutes of baking/cooking time.
Nothing more to do here, grab a cup of water or a snack, relax and chill around a bit while your delicious yogurt cake bakes.
How much time your cake takes to bake depends on the oven you’re using, the cake dish and few other things so keep a check on your cake once it’s past the 35 minute mark.
STEP 3: YOUR YOGURT CAKE IS READY
Go ahead and check on your cake once the time is up.
You’ll know your cake is done if the top is firm and not jiggly anymore.
Carefully remove your cake pan and let it cool.
Let your yogurt cake cool down before removing the parchment paper. You can also remove it from the cake pan and let the cake cool a little more on a wire rack before peeling out the parchment paper.
Once it’s cooled a bit but is still a little warm (you can wait until it reaches room temperature too), get it off the wire rack, cut a slice and give it a try. I LOVE this 3 ingredient yogurt cake warm, it’s so good ❤.
Or you can wait for this yogurt cake with condensed milk to get even cooler (reach room temperature) and store it in the fridge. It tastes pretty awesome cold too!
You can also turn the cake over a plate, gently remove the parchment paper and serve it. Or just peel the parchment paper and serve the cake as it is without flipping it.
Have it as you want or slice it into delicious slices of creamy yogurt-y goodness, it’s all up to you. Yum 😍!
Hey you, I really hope you love this 3 Ingredient Yogurt Cake recipe as much as I do!

TIPS TO MAKE THE BEST 3 INGREDIENT YOGURT CAKE
When it comes to how simple this recipe is, I honestly have no words! It’ll be one of the easiest things you’ll ever bake. Probably one of the easiest yogurt cake recipes too!
But hey, here are a few handy-dandy tips to help you just a little more, cause why the heck not 😉?
- Always sift the flour and mix it really well with the yogurt cake mix. This will make sure your cake won’t have flour pockets/flour balls or be gritty with a strange texture.
- An easy way to make sure my cake doesn’t stick to the pan is by using parchment paper. I love lining my baking pan with parchment paper when baking this cake. That way, I can just peel it off once the cake is ready without going through the whole effort of getting my cake out of the pan or running the risk of it getting super stuck. I suggest you line your baking pan with a parchment paper too! It’s an easy way to get your cake out.
- You can go ahead and crumple your parchment paper. Line your cake pan with it and then pour your liquid cake mix in. This will give your yogurt cake a unique shape, making it look rustic, aesthetic and absolutely gorgeous.
- If you don’t have parchment paper at home, it’s okay. You can still make this cake. Just go ahead and grease your cake pan really well with butter or vegetable oil (such as olive oil or canola oil).
- Want to make more of this cake? I completely get it. Rather than using one large pan, go ahead and use two small pans! That way, your cake will bake evenly. It’ll also have a lovely rise and won’t be flat. Woohoo!
- Everyone’s oven is different. Once you hit that 35 minute mark, keep a check on your cake to make sure it doesn’t brown too much. You can let it bake a little extra to get a caramelized appearance at the bottom and sides but please keep a check and make sure it doesn’t overbake.
- Our yogurt cake here doesn’t rise much. It’s a pretty flat cake and that’s why I’ve used a small cake pan to bake it in. The pan I’ve used is 6.5 inches and it gives me a cute thick cake. You can use a small pan like me or you can use a large pan too. Just remember that if you bake your yogurt cake in a large cake pan, it may not be as thick and will be pretty thin.
- To get some extra browning on your yogurt cake, go ahead and bake it a little extra or raise the heat up just a bit in the last 5 minutes.
- Wait for your yogurt cake to cool down before removing the parchment paper (you can wait until it reaches room temperature). You can also remove it from the cake pan and let it cool a little more on a wire rack before peeling out the parchment paper.

The ideal temperature for baking this yogurt cake is 177°C or 350°F for about 40 to 45 minutes.
Can I use flavored yogurt to add more flavor to my 3 ingredient yogurt cake?
I’ve used plain Greek yogurt here but you can use any flavor of Greek yogurt you like such as maybe vanilla yogurt for a delicate vanilla yogurt cake?
Or perhaps even a strawberry flavored Greek yogurt for a strawberry yogurt cake?
Or maybe a lemon yogurt cake with lemon flavored yogurt, add in some lemon zest for an added tart punch or maybe even a little lemon juice?
Go ahead and experiment and see what you like best!
What are some common mistakes to avoid when making this yogurt cake?
This cake is super easy to make. It’s insane how simple it is, literally one of the best yogurt cake recipes ever!
There are a few common mistakes you can avoid when making this 3 ingredient yogurt cake though. You’ll learn and not make them the next time you make it so don’t worry ❤. Here are a few common mistakes:
- Not mixing flour in properly. If you don’t mix the flour in super well, you may end up with a gritty textured cake or worse, pockets of flour in your cake once it’s baked. Mix the flour in well with those wet ingredients.
- Not using parchment paper. An easy way to make sure my cake doesn’t stick to the pan is by using parchment paper. I love lining my cake pan with parchment paper when baking this cake. Then, I just peel it off once the cake is ready without going through the whole stress of a possibly stuck cake. I suggest you line your baking pan with parchment paper too! If you don’t have parchment paper though then please grease the cake pan really well with butter or vegetable oil (such as canola oil or olive oil). Greasing your cake pan with butter or vegetable oil such as canola oil or olive oil will prevent the cake from sticking to the pan.
- Taking the cake out too soon. If you take your yogurt cake out too soon, it’ll be jiggly and liquidy and can possibly collapse. Wait for it to bake well until the top isn’t jiggly anymore.
- Taking the cake out too late. It’s perfectly okay to wait a little if you want your yogurt cake to have a bit of a caramelized appearance but waiting too long can result in your cake getting dry or worse, burning.

EASY 3 Ingredient Yogurt Cake Recipe (NO Effort, SO Delish!)
Ingredients
- 1½ cups or 420 gms Greek yogurt can substitute with flavored Greek yogurt or plain yogurt
- 1 cup or 300 gms (approx.) sweetened condensed milk
- 5 tbsp all purpose flour can substitute with 2½ tbsp cornstarch
( Note- Please keep in mind that I go into lots of detail in all my recipes so you get to know all the super important tips & tricks when it comes to making a particular recipe. I always want you to make the BEST of whatever you’re cooking ❤ )
Instructions
- MIX EVERYTHING TOGETHERPreheat the oven to 177°C or 350°F.Add 1½ cups or 420 gms Greek yogurt and 1 cup or 300 gms (approx.) sweetened condensed milk to a large mixing bowl.Sift 5 tbsp all purpose flour into the large mixing bowl. And now mix everything together super well so there are no clumps of flour left.I’ve used a regular whisk to mix everything together but you can use whatever you prefer.
- BAKE ITTake your cake pan (a regular cake pan or springform pan) and line it with parchment paper.I’ve used a 6.5 inch round cake pan here. This cake doesn’t rise much and that’s why I’m using a smaller pan so it looks thick and creamy once it’s done baking.Pour your batter from the large mixing bowl into the prepared tin/cake pan (a silicone spatula helps!).And that’s it!Pop it into the oven and let it bake at 177°C or 350°F for about 40 to 45 minutes of baking/cooking time. The time your cake takes to bake depends on the oven you’re using, the cake dish and a few other things so keep a check on your cake once it’s past the 35 minute mark.Have a cup of water or grab a snack and relax while your yogurt cake bakes.
- YOUR YOGURT CAKE IS READYCheck on your cake once the time is up.You’ll know your cake is done if the top looks firm and is not jiggly anymore.Carefully remove your cake pan from the oven and let the cake cool.Gently remove the parchment paper once your yogurt cake is a little cooler and not as hot anymore (you can wait until it reaches room temperature too). You can also remove your cake from the cake pan and let it cool a little more on a wire rack before peeling out the parchment paper.Once the cake has cooled a bit but is still a little warm, you can cut a slice and try it.I absolutely LOVE this 3 ingredient yogurt cake warm, it’s so good ❤.Or you can wait for this yogurt cake with condensed milk to get even cooler and then store it in the fridge (once it reaches room temperature). It tastes pretty amazing cold too!You can also turn the cake over a plate, gently remove the parchment paper and serve it.Or just peel the parchment paper and serve the cake without flipping it.There are so many ways you can have it!Eat it as it is or slice it into delicious slices of creamy yogurt-y goodness, it’s all up to you. Yum, so good 😍!It’s such a perfect dessert ⭐.
Notes ✍🏼
- Always sift the flour and mix it super well with the yogurt cake mix to make sure your cake won’t have flour pockets or have a strange gritty texture. You need to really mix it well with the wet ingredients.
- I suggest you line your baking pan with parchment paper. This way, you can just peel it off once the cake is ready without going through the whole effort of getting your cake out of the pan or running the risk of it getting stuck.
- You can crumple your parchment paper, line your cake pan with it and then pour your cake mix in. This will give your yogurt cake a unique rustic and aesthetic shape, absolutely gorgeous.
- If you don’t have parchment paper at home, just go ahead and grease your cake pan really well before pouring your cake mix in.
- If you want to make more of this cake, use two small cake pans instead of one large cake pan. That way, your cake will bake evenly. It’ll also be nice and thick and not flat. Woohoo ❤!
- Everyone’s oven is different. Once you hit that 35 minute mark, go ahead and check your cake every couple of minutes to make sure it doesn’t overbake. You can let it bake a little extra to get a caramelized appearance at the bottom and sides but please keep a check to make sure it isn’t too much.
- I’ve baked this 3 ingredient yogurt cake with condensed milk in a 6.5 inch round cake pan but you can go ahead and bake it in a larger cake pan or springform pan. Remember though that your yogurt cake will be thinner if you bake it in a larger pan. For a thick rich cake, go ahead and use a smaller cake pan or springform pan like I’ve done here.
- To get a caramelized appearance on your yogurt cake, go ahead and bake it a little extra or raise the heat up just a bit in the last five minutes.
- Wait for your yogurt cake to get cooler before removing the parchment paper (you can wait until it reaches room temperature). You can also remove it from the cake pan and let it cool a little more on a wire rack before peeling out the parchment paper.
- I’ve used plain Greek yogurt here but you can use any flavor of Greek yogurt you like such as maybe vanilla yogurt, blueberry flavored Greek yogurt or maybe lemon flavored yogurt? You can use regular yogurt as well. You can go ahead and try different yogurts to see what flavor and texture you prefer.
- When it comes to the condensed milk, you can maybe use low/zero sugar condensed milk or low fat condensed milk as a lighter option. I haven’t tried it though so if you try it, please let me know in the comments below how it works out for you.
- If you don’t have all purpose flour or are looking for a substitute, you can use half the amount of cornstarch. You can also trying using tapioca starch, potato starch, rice flour, arrowroot powder, almond flour or whole wheat flour as well… I haven’t tried these options myself but feel they can work here. If you give it a try, please let me know how it works for you.
- If you want even more sweetness in your cake, you can add in some white sugar, maple syrup, honey or any sweetener or sugar substitute of your preference.
- You can make this delicious 3 ingredient yogurt cake in a cupcake pan as well so everyone gets their own personal yogurt cake! The baking time will be shorter though so make sure you bake it for lesser time and keep a constant check.
- I looove having this creamy yogurt cake warm and fresh out of the oven but you can wait until it reaches room temperature, refrigerate it and then have it cold too. It tastes delicious every single time.
- You can maybe add half cream cheese half Greek or plain yogurt or sour cream to the cake mix when making this cake. This can be to play around with the flavor of your cake or to add a lighter ingredient along with the cream cheese if you’re going for a cheesecake-like cake.
- To add an even more cheesecakiness to this 3 ingredient Greek yogurt cake, go ahead and make a crust as is done when making a cheesecake. You can use Graham crackers or whatever you prefer for an absolutely delicious crust. Yum!
- There are loads of different flavors you can add to your creamy yogurt cake. You can add in some lemon zest or orange zest (squeeze some lemon juice on top for an extra tart!), vanilla extract, almond extract or coffee extract depending on what flavor you wish to go for. You can maybe add in some chia seeds too? For a chocolateyness, you can add some chocolate chips into the batter as well. There are so many ways you can add your preferred flavors to this cake!
- You can make some chocolate yogurt cake! Just add some cocoa powder into the yogurt batter before baking it. Drizzle some chocolate sauce over your chocolate yogurt cake and enjoy.
- Go ahead and add some spices to your creamy cake mix for a touch of warmth ❤. Spices such as clove, cinnamon and/or cardamom work super well here.
- You can also add some fresh fruit to the cake batter before baking. You can add maybe some blackberries or raspberries…? Yum!
- You can also add some dried fruit such as raisins, walnuts, almonds or whatever you prefer into the yogurt mixture too or on top of the cake once it’s done baking.
- For a healthy yogurt cake variation, skip out on the condensed milk. Mix in 3 large eggs instead. Remember that this won’t be sweet on its own unless you’re using a sweetened yogurt so if you want your yogurt cake to be sweet, make sure you add in your preferred sweetener (such as 1/4 cup sugar). You can also drizzle some honey or maple syrup on top or just serve your yogurt cake with some fruit for a touch of sweetness. Another interesting variation here is to make a fluffy cake. Just separate the egg whites from the egg yolks, beat them using a hand mixer until they form medium to stiff peaks and gently fold it all into the cake batter (Greek yogurt+egg yolks+cornstarch or flour) and bake. You can add 1/4 cup sugar to make it sweet too!

I love this way too much. Thank you 🙂
You’re so welcome, Nina ❤. I’m glad you love it.
Took just a little longer to bake but I expected that cause my oven always does this. Very delicious cake, not too sweet and so creamy. I love it thank you. Served it with apples!
Yay I’m so glad you loved the cake, Ann! Thank you so much for the comment ❤. I’ll try my yogurt cake with apples the next time, sounds lovely!
I have no idea what happened for me with this recipe, but the inside never firmed up! I used condensed coconut milk not regular condensed milk so that might have been the reason. I baked it for almost 2 1/2 hours at 350 with no success! It’s in the fridge now, so maybe it will firm up a bit, but it’s pretty much like a soufflé with a crust carmelized top and runny inside. Super disappointed with this 🙁 feels like a waste of yogurt and time!
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that! 🙁 I wonder what went wrong.
There are a few reasons why this may have happpened. I’m not sure though and I’m trying to figure it out…
1) I would love to know if you used Greek yogurt or regular yogurt. Regular yogurt holds lots more liquid… This still shouldn’t affect your recipe so much though.
2) It could’ve also been because of the condensed coconut milk as you’ve mentioned. I’ve heard of some people trying it with condensed coconut milk too and it worked out for them. Maybe they used a different brand? I’m not sure.
3) The quantity matters as well. If you made more of this recipe, it’ll take longer for it to bake.
These are just a few reasons I can think of.
I’m terribly sorry this recipe didn’t work for you… I hope it firmed up after you refrigerated it.
I would love if you could try making it again, maybe with condensed milk this time to see if it works for you. Thank you so much for your comment, Ese. This can help so many others as well ❤.
LOVE simple recipes like these with such few ingredients. Only 3 ingredients is unbelievable! And the cake is so good too you won’t know it uses only 3 ingredients. Thanks!
I agree, Ria! I’m super glad you enjoyed it, thank you ❤.

This was incredibly good. I didn’t know what to expect and I’m blown away? It’s creamy and tastes exactly how you described it, a little tart and a little sweet. I had mine fresh out of the oven and didn’t need to top it up with anything, it just tasted so good on its own. Wow thanks for the recipe The Buttery Fairytale!
